Antica Grecia: una terra di soldati e di sacerdoti devoti alle divinità dell'Olimpo, alla vigilia di una guerra contro la Persia. Tra le fila dei guerrieri, spicca il cranio rasato e tatuato di Kratos, il “Fantasma di Sparta”, un uomo che per dimenticare il suo passato ha deciso di consacrare tutta la sua forza e abilità al servizio degli Dei, e per il quale neppure il mostruoso Basilisco portato dai Persiani costituisce un avversario degno.

La sua sete di avventura sarà presto messa alla prova nel momento in cui il carro del sole cadrà inspiegabilmente sulla terra, e l'oscurità circonderà nella sua morsa umani e immortali. Resa giustamente celebre dai due capolavori su PS2, la saga di God of War approda su PSP con questo prequel intitolato “Chains of Olympus”: si tratta di un arcade/adventure 3D in terza persona dalle accese tinte di picchiaduro, in cui ci troveremo impegnati a pilotare il buon Kratos (buono da morire...) tra innumerevoli scontri contro avversari umani e non, ma anche tra trabocchetti ed enigmi molto Tomb-Raider's Style.
